Introduction
Our client, a boutique specialist employment law firm, is seeking a highly motivated and talented Labour Law Associate to join their team. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for handling a variety of labour law matters and representing clients in cases before the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA). This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated individual to gain valuable experience in a dynamic legal practice and make a meaningful impact in the field of labour law.
The position will involve a broad range of contentious and advisory employment law work, including disciplinary enquiries, arbitrations, Labour Court litigation, drafting of employment-related agreements and policies, retrenchment processes, and general employment law advisory services.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in labour law matters, including CCMA cases.
- Provide expert legal advice on a range of labour law issues.
- Draft legal documents and manage case preparation for CCMA.
- Work closely with senior partner and clients to ensure excellent service delivery.
- Solid experience in labour and employment law;
- Exposure to CCMA, bargaining council, Labour Court and disciplinary matters;
- Strong drafting and litigation skills;
- The ability to work independently and manage files responsibly;
- Good client engagement and communication skills; and
- A strong work ethic and attention to detail.
Requirements:
- LLB & Admitted Attorney
- 2-5 years’ post-articles experience in employment/labour law
- Strong drafting, advocacy, and client-facing skills
- In-depth knowledge of LRA, BCEA, CCMA & Labour Court rules
- Labour Court experience
