Join a Leading Independent Corporate Advisory & JSE Sponsor Firm
A leading independent Corporate Advisory and JSE Sponsor firm, based in Sandton, is seeking a highly driven and detail-oriented Junior Inhouse Counsel to join its internal business support team.
This is a unique group-level legal and compliance role, supporting multiple subsidiaries across Corporate Advisory, Property, Construction & Civils, and Consulting Engineering, each with their own regulatory and compliance nuances.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership, including direct support to the CEO, and will play a key role in managing contracts, legal risk, compliance obligations, and governance frameworks across the group.
This opportunity is ideally suited to a qualified attorney with 2–5 years’ post-articles experience, who has exposure to commercial/contract law and compliance and experience in FIDIC, JBCC and NEC3 construction contracts, and who thrives in a highly structured, methodical, and professional environment.

The Legal & Compliance Officer will be responsible for end-to-end contract management, legal advisory support, and compliance oversight across the group.

Key Responsibilities
Legal Advisory & Contract Management
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a broad range of commercial agreements, including:
- Employment contracts
- Property and lease agreements
- Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
- Supplier and vendor agreements
- FIDIC, JBCC and NEC3 construction contracts
- Maintain and manage the contract register and full contract lifecycle, including drafting, execution, renewals, and terminations
- Provide legal input on commercial transactions and business agreements
- Ensure contractual arrangements align with legal, regulatory, and commercial requirements
Compliance & Governance
- Support the implementation and monitoring of legal and regulatory compliance frameworks
- Ensure adherence to corporate governance standards and internal policies
- Assist with risk identification, mitigation, and compliance reporting
- Maintain compliance registers and monitor regulatory obligations
- Assist with internal policy drafting, review, and updates
Legal Risk & Advisory Support
- Identify and mitigate legal and contractual risks across the group
- Provide practical legal advice to internal stakeholders
- Support dispute resolution matters and liaise with external legal counsel when required
- Assist with due diligence processes and legal documentation reviews
Executive & Business Support
- Provide direct legal support to the CEO and senior management team
- Assist with strategic legal matters and key business initiatives
- Ensure legal documentation, processes, and records remain compliant, accurate, and audit-ready
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- LLB Degree (Essential)
- Admitted Attorney (Non-Negotiable)
Experience
- 2–5 years’ post-articles experience
- Experience in commercial law and/or contract law (including exposure gained during articles)
- Exposure to compliance, corporate governance, or regulatory environments
- Strong experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and legal documentation
